About the Regional
The FIRST Robotics Competition Tallahassee Regional is held at the Alfred Lawson Jr, Multipurpose Center on the FAMU campus in Tallahassee, Florida in the Spring. The regional was the first in the world to be held on an HBCU campus.
Florida’s FRC program really took off in 1999, when 28 teams met to compete at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. The Florida Regional, as it was known then, grew over the course of a few years until it was, moved to the University of Central Florida Arena in 2003. FRC in Florida then expanded to include the South Florida Regional in 2012 and then, in 2022, Tallahassee became the third regional to take place in Florida.
With a popular team social in the park, great workshop presenters from the College of Engineering, and a stellar group of volunteers, the Tallahassee Regional is quickly becoming a favorite event for many teams and we look forward to building upon those experiences year after year.
